In the January 2020 Newsletter of the Structural Engineering Association of Oregon (SEAO), BRANDON ERICKOSN, PE, SE received recognition for contributing to the 3rd Place award in the National Council of Structural Engineers Associations (NCSEA) outreach challenge. Brandon’s published article entitled, “Learning From Others Who Also Live in Earthquake Country” was the highlighted submission from Oregon. The article took advantage of the 2018 Anchorage, Alaska earthquake to capture the general public’s attention to address key concerns of nearby residents and highlight the impact of structural engineering in a way the public can understand. Based on the contributions of Brandon and others, SEAO was awarded third place in the challenge. The award included a mini Shake Table. This Shake Table will be used in SEAO’s student public outreach activities. Congratulations to Brandon and the SEAO!
